Real Digipak analysis

As we are creating a digipak for our song I'm Sorry by Amanda Lucas i thought it would be best to research other artists digipaks. Digipaks bring the whole item together and enables in to be sold in shops like HMV.
We had to ask the question "what goes on a digipak?"
WHAT SHOULD BE INCLUDED ON A DIGIPAK

  • Font
  • Spine
  • Front Back
  • Membership postcard/flier
  • lyrics section
  • disk impression
  • track listing
  • image
I looked and Albert Hammond Jr's album "Yours to keep", as a example as it is very unique and stands out from others on the shelf.

This is the front three panels of the album. This image continues over all three panels which gives a sense of continuity and professionalism. This digipak sums up the bands music it is care free and relaxing. When first looking at the image you think it is childish, mellow, fantasy-like, very naturistic and relaxed. The image is of a very nauristic scene of animals playing in a lake area.
The font is very interesting, it looks like handwriting which runs well alongside the theme of the digipak as the images all look hand drawn.

This is the inside three panels, we get the same theme running through the inside which is a scene from nature. Again we initially think the same things when looking at it, calm and relaxing. Although on this image we are introduced to the band.

This is the actual CD, this also is very similar to the digipak. Here we are presented with the artist name which is in the same handwritten font that is present on the front. We also see a sunrise image like on the inside of the digipak and the three rabbits which are on the front.

Jason Derulo Digipak
This is the front cover of Jason Derulo's new album Future History. Jason Derulo is very famous for his dancing and so we are shown a picture of him dancing on his front cover. The name of the album is future history and this album cover is quite futuristic as it has taken a photograph in a futuristic pose and edited it to make it look supernatural. Also the coloring is quite futuristic as it is not an ordinary light. The fact that the background is quite dark makes the text stand out.

This is the back of Jason Derulos album, it is similar to the front as it is a picture of him in front of a background. This picture of the artist echoes the name of the album, it is like he is looking into the future. The song list is on the back and there is a unique light on it that is also present on the front. The text on the spine is the same as the front so that shows their is continuity on this product.

This is the CD inside the digipak, this is quite different to the front and back covers, however the continuity is still there through the use of text that Jason Derulo is written in. Their is also a track-list on the CD as well as the back cover.
